In the United States, disease was spreading rapidly. Doctors figured that antibiotics could solve everyones health issues. The truth was that it was more than just a curable infection. The more doctors tried to fix people the less it worked. They thought that they had done everything they could. Cases of ill people were piling up and soon, a hysteria came about because people thought they were in danger of catching this illness. Parents were contagious and were passing it along to their children. Tragically, parents were soon banned from being around their children. Doctors found evidence that different strains of the illness was around. They made announcements that everyone should take precautions if they weren't already ill. They doctors declared this a national emergency and wanted to rid the country of this illness.
